20260412890King Abdulaziz University, represented by the King Fahd Medical Research Center, signed a memorandum of understanding with Dwaa Charity for Providing Medicine. The MoU aims to harness the capabilities and facilities available to both parties to support education, training, and research for students and researchers.
Representing the university at the signing was Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation Prof. Amin bin Youssef Noaman, while Dwaa Charity was represented by its Chairman of the Board, Dr. Abdulnasser bin Ali Batooq.
The MoU aims to activate joint work between the two parties in service of the community by utilizing the capabilities and facilities of the King Fahd Medical Research Center and directing them toward joint projects. It also seeks to create a scientific environment that enables research staff and students to benefit from available resources in conducting specialized statistical and research studies.
Areas of cooperation include strengthening research and scientific work in the pharmaceutical sector and conducting laboratory analyses and required tests at the center’s laboratories. These include chemical analysis, stability testing, microbial testing, and visual inspection to verify the safety and quality of surplus medicines and determine whether they are suitable for reuse or should be safely disposed of.
The MoU between the university and Dwaa Charity also includes establishing a shared database to document the quantities and types of surplus medicines, their receipt dates, sources, test results, and final handling decisions.
Joint health campaigns will also be launched to raise awareness of medication use and safe practices, reduce pharmaceutical waste, and educate the community on proper methods for donating medicines or safely disposing of unusable materials. The agreement also covers cooperation in organizing scientific conferences, workshops, and specialized meetings to develop projects with sustainable community impact.
