King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, concluded
the first university triathlon championship of its kind among Saudi universities, with
around 250 participants from various categories. The event was held on Saturday,
May 9, 2026, at the Sports Village.
In the students’ category, Mokhtar Ali won first place, followed by Amin Noorullah in
second and Nawaf Bandar Ali in third. In the staff category, Nader Hanbazazah
claimed first place, Mohammed Sami Hanbazazah came in second, and Awad Al-
Amin secured third.
The championship featured three consecutive stages: swimming, cycling, and
running. The race began with swimming in the Olympic pool at the Sports Village,
followed by cycling, before concluding with a running race inside the university
grounds. The area where participants change equipment between stages is known
as the Transition Area.
Organized to promote sports culture and healthy lifestyles among students and staff,
the championship aimed to encourage regular physical activity and raise awareness
of its role in enhancing public health and quality of life.
The event reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to support sports activities, foster a
spirit of competition, and motivate the university community to adopt active lifestyles,
in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to improve quality of life and increase
participation in physical activity.
