20260412890The Hepatobiliary Surgery team at King Abdulaziz University Hospital has successfully performed a life-saving procedure using advanced robotic technology, known for its precision, lower risk, and faster recovery times.
The patient, a 15-year-old girl, faced life-threatening complications after a previous gallbladder surgery performed at another hospital. The complications caused a severe blockage of the bile ducts, which led to acute liver failure and jaundice.
“This was a rare and critical hepatobiliary case,” said Prof. Murad Aljiffry, Head of the Department of Surgery. “Examinations revealed a complete disconnection of the bile ducts, requiring immediate robotic intervention to restore their function with the highest precision.”
The surgical team successfully reconnected the bile ducts, and the patient was discharged just three days later in good health.
This achievement highlights the advanced expertise of the hepatobiliary surgery team at King Abdulaziz University Hospital and reinforces its role as a leader in delivering cutting-edge healthcare in the region.
