Department of Biological Sciences was established in 1429H depending on  the decision of the Council of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia (No. 10 209). The Council of King Abdulaziz University (No. 8), in its third meeting for the academic year 1431/1432 H decided the restructuring of the departments of the College of Arts and Sciences on 4/4/1432 H to include the following divisions:
    • Microbiology,
    • Botany, and
    • Biotechnology.

After careful analysis of the needs of the Province of Alkamil the Department of Biological Sciences proposes two divisions in addition to the former four ones:

    • Food Science, and
    • Animal Science Technology.

These comprehensive undergraduate programmes prepare students for leadership positions in food and animal industries in addition to academic and governmental jobs.
