King Abdulaziz University launched the Law and Sports Investment Forum:
“Prospects and Challenges,” organized by the Faculty of Law to highlight legal
frameworks that support investment opportunities in the sports sector. Held on
Sunday and Monday, May 10 - 11, 2026, at the King Faisal Conference Center, the
forum brings together specialists, experts, academics, and stakeholders in sports,
law, and investment.
Through panel discussions and academic lectures, participants examined the legal
framework for sports investment, governance and transparency in sports institutions,
and the role of the Sports Law in promoting investment. Modern experiences and
best practices were also reviewed as part of the forum’s program.
Three panel discussions formed a key part of the event. The first focused on sports
legislation and its role in enabling investment, while the second addressed
governance and transparency in sports institutions. The third explored how the
Sports Law supports investment, from stadiums to markets. Several academic
lectures were also presented, highlighting the Sports Law, the regulatory framework
governing the commercial rights of sports club sponsors, and the statutes as well as
the marketing and commercial regulations of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.
Dr. Sultan bin Fayhan Aba Al-Ola, Dean of the Faculty of Law, explained that the
forum coincides with the qualitative transformation and unprecedented sports boom
witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, supported and empowered by the vision
of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, may God protect him.
This vision, he noted, has made the sports sector one of the key drivers of national
development and a promising field for investment.
Dr. Aba Al-Ola added that the issuance of the Sports Law has helped regulate the
sports sector across its various fields by establishing an integrated legal framework
that strengthens governance, improves the efficiency of the investment environment,
and supports the development of the sports ecosystem in line with the objectives of
Saudi Vision 2030.
Dr. Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Educational
Affairs, stated that the forum represents the starting point for a package of academic
and research activities, as well as specialized programs in sports. These initiatives
aim to build knowledge, promote scientific research, and create dialogue platforms
that contribute to the development and sustainability of the sports sector.
He added that the forum reflects the importance of integration between the legal and
investment dimensions of the sports sector, expressing his hope that it will achieve its
intended goals and contribute to advancing sports and investment in the Kingdom.
