Pharmacy Law and Ethics


 

Objectives:

This course will introduce the students to the Saudi Arabian law and the legal system in general and its applicability to pharmacy and pharmaceuticals. Students will learn pharmacy law, regulations, and case law applicable to professional practice of pharmacy in KSA. In addition, students will learn how to differentiate law from ethics.

 

Contents:

Students will be exposed to Saudi Arabian governmental law and regulations relating to all aspects of the profession of pharmacy. Topics include definitions, ethics and law, legal system, administrative agencies, organizational structures, applications, permits and licenses, dangerous drugs, controlled substances, Parenteral, drug pricing, and registration, records, reports, inventory/storage and security, disposals, pharmacy inspection, product liability, unfair trade practice and other pharmacy law related topics.

 

Course Outcomes:

This course introduces the students to the Saudi Arabian pharmacy law and the legal system in handling pharmaceuticals. Students will be able to apply pharmacy law and regulations both in community and institutional setting. By the end of this course, students should be capable of applying and holding ethical conducts.
