Pathophysiology



 

Objectives:

This course is designed to provide students with basic knowledge to disease processes considering alterations derangements   compensatory mechanisms involved and the pathogenesis for commonly encountered disease states.

 

Contents:

Theoretical

Through both formal lectures and structured case analysis discussion students will be exposed to various disorders of different organ systems such as inflammatory systems, neurological endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal acid-base\gastrointestinal, liver and sensation\pain disorders.

Practical

Study cases discussions concerning the pathophysiological changes associated with some commonly known diseases and its clinical investigations.

 

Course Outcomes:

After completing this course, the students will be able to:           

1.      Use the medical terms related to the description of different diseases.

2.      Describe the etiology, pathophysiological changes, clinical picture, complications and investigations of the common diseases.

3.      List and describe the critical factors that should be considered and systemically evaluated in order to obtain effective responses to medications.
