1- EXCELLENCE IN PERIODONTOLOGY AWARD
(June 10, 2004)
This award is given to the best graduating 3rd year Periodontology resident from the department of Periodontology and Oral Biology at Boston University Goldman school of dental medicine. The recipient is selected based on the best achievements in clinical and academic performance.
2- BALINT ORBAN MEMORIAL PRIZE (ORBAN COMPETITION)
(September 23, 2003); First Place, Clinical Science.
It is considered the most prestigious award in the American Academy of Periodontology. Named in honor of Dr. Balint Orban, a member of the Academy who was influential in developing the scientific foundations of contemporary periodontics, this competition is open to students enrolled in accredited periodontal programs in the United States and Canada. Eight finalists were selected on the basis of written abstracts, are invited to make oral presentations in recognition of excellence for research in periodontology at each Annual Meeting. The competition is underwritten by the Warner-Lamber Consumer Health Products Group.
3- RUBEN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
(June 12, 2003; in the amount of $ 16,000 for Scholastic Excellence)
Name in honor of Dr. Maurice Ruben, a distinguished Professor in the department of Periodontology and Oral Biology who was considered the father of Periodontology at Boston University. This award is granted to a Periodontology resident entering the 2nd clinical year and is determined by a ballot from the faculty at Boston University. The award is given based on clinical excellence and academic standing.
