Vice-deanship of Students' Affairs Holds "Your Life Matters" Educational Programme

The KAU Vice-deanship of Students' Affairs for Activities, Girls' Campus, and the Drug Control Office in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region have held an educational programme entitled "Your Life Matters" from 28 February- 2 March 2010, corresponding to 14-16 Rabi' Al-awwal 1431 at the Girls' Campus theater to raise the students' awareness of the dangers of abusing drugs.

On the fisrt day of the event, Dr Suzan Al-Mash-hadi, of Al-Amal Hospital, gave a lecture on the different substances of drugs, such as powders, solvents and bills. She also dealt with the symptoms of addiction on drug abusers and ways of treating addicts.

"Your Path to Happiness" was the theme of a lecture delivered by Dr Fatin Halawani, who said that wealth, social status and prestigious jobs could not buy perfect happiness, stressing that true happiness is associated with obeying God's commands and prohibitions.

The second and third day of the event witnessed the following lectures:

• The Psychological Factors of Drug Addiction, by Dr Sanaa Salem.
• Childhood Problems Leading to Drug Addiction, by Dr Nisreen Yacoub.
• Relapsing to Drugs after a Period of Abstinence, by Dr Majda Hussain.
• Personality Traits of a Drug Addict, by Dr Hiba Ibrahim.

Certificates of participation were also given to the students who attended the workshops.
