Abstract : A detailed description is given for the computer interface for the upgraded Kottamia Photon Counting System (KPCS) regarding proper setting and operation. An upgrade of the operating software package has been developed (using Visual BASIC instead of the obsolete BASIC) to control all the system functions as well as momentary preliminary reduction and display for ON-LINE evaluation of the observation quality. In addition, the counts accumulated are acquired and saved together with the reduced ones in pre-defined ASCII files for archiving and later manipulation. Experimental tests have been done to assign the best working EHT, proper discrimination level and to investigate the reliability of the system performance. Observations for a variable star are obtained, reduced and displayed. The KPCS and Software developed resemble excellent performance in stellar photometry.
