Abstract : The transition to the text as a major linguistic unit constituted a new opening for linguistic studies. As it emerged from the limitations of the sentence and its levels to a wide space that does not stop at a specific limit, its nature is characterized by flexibility and instability, which makes the movement in it continuous to the present day. This study sought to apply one of the data points of this linguistic trend to contemporary texts represented in the legal fatwas of Sheikh Saad Al-Shathri; the extent to which textual standards are available was revealed, and the linguistic and non-linguistic factors that contributed to their cohesion and coherence and the achievement of their desired goals were clarified. To achieve these goals, the study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach by monitoring the features of these standards in the fatwas studied and analyzing their tools and means. The study's most important findings included the emergence of cohesion and coherence standards as the most important textual standards in Sheikh Saad's fatwas, as each of them worked to cohere the fatwas formally and semantically through various tools and means. Reference was the most obvious manifestation of coherence. As for taking care of the unity of the topic and building logical relationships between the parts, there was more noticeable cohesion. The purposes of Sheikh Saad were also consistent with the general purposes of legal fatwas, as they were a statement of rulings and guidance for the respondent in a manner that achieved benefit for him in this world and the hereafter, and they took two forms: direct or indirect. As for acceptability, the religious importance of these texts was a factor that prompted the recipient to accept them. It touched on the affairs of the individual and society, and important actions and behaviors were based on it. On the other hand, the nature of these texts and the goals behind them had a significant impact on their informativeness. The study of situationalism through the two elements of stress and intonation showed their important role in understanding the text, interrogating its intentions, and working on its coherence and the interdependence of its parts. Finally, religious intertextuality was evident in these texts. It had a clear impact on its construction by linking it to many relationships with other texts for multiple goals and objectives. Keywords: (Fatwas, Textuality, Cohesion, Coherence, Informativity)
