Abstract : Development of green nanotechnology is generating interest of researchers toward eco-friendly biosynthesis of nanoparticles. This research set out to investigate the potential of Allium ampeloprasum and Ricinus communis leaf extracts to biosynthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and to investigate the AgNPs antifungal activity against some toxigenic strains of Aspergilli isolates. In order to achieve this, Plant leaves were extracted using ethanol, hot water, and chloroform. Then, screened for their inhibitory effect on Aspergillus species using agar well diffusion method. The results showed that all plant extracts have no inhibitory effect against all tested fungi. AgNPs were also prepared from plant extracts at room temperature and the formation of AgNPs have been visually detected after the color changed to dark brown while the UV-vis spectroscopy confirmed their formation. The main active reduction agents were detected by Fourier Transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Also, the nanoparticles were characterized using Scanning electron microscope (SEM). Whereas, the antifungal activity of AgNPs were investigated by agar well diffusion method which showed a good inhibitory effect against toxigenic strains of Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. parasiticus and A. ochraceus. The MIC values of AgNPs ranged from 312,5-2500 mg/ml. The treated fungi with AgNPs examined with (SEM), it was observed that the treated fungi were damaged. These results suggest that AgNPs have the potential to be used as an ideal eco-friendly approach to control toxigenic fungi.
