Abstract : Some basic notions and results of topology are presented. A brief discussion on symmetric spaces as well as fixed points of contractions is included. Topology and certain properties of symmetric spaces are discussed. The relationships between different properties in symmetric spaces are investigated. The existence and uniqueness of fixed points of mappings in symmetric spaces is shown via certain properties. Applications of our results to probabilistic spaces are also derived.
