Abstract	:	Some basic notions and concepts of fixed point theory are studied. Important features of cones in Banach spaces are also highlighted. Topology of cone metric spaces is discussed and some generalizations of the Banach contraction principle are presented. Fixed point theorems for mappings satisfying a convexity type condition are established. Cone version of Cantor's intersection theorem is given.
