Abstract : This research paper is an attempt to clarify the different dimensions of the context of situation as perceived by Ibn Ginny, how he finds them out and how he deals with them throughout his masterpieces "Al-Khasaes" and "AlMohtasab". It also examines how the syntactic study has been affected by these dimensions in general. It aims at observing the context of situation in the perspectives of grammarians and rhetoricians and comparing them to each other. The thesis shows the linguistic phenomena studied by Ibn Ginny regarding the context of situation and how he studies them. The thesis showed the theoretical dimensions of the context of situation in the syntactic study and their applications of the Arab grammarians specially Ibn Ginny. It has clarified how Ibn Ginny dealt with the irregular different recitations of Quran related to the context of situation. It consists of four chapters preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion. Chapter I defines the concept of the context of situation, how it is studied in Arabic tradition and Arabic modern studies. Chapter II is devoted to clarify the syntactic and rhetoric Perspectives of the context of situation. Chapter III is devoted by its turn to the different dimensions of the context of situation in the viewpoint of Ibn Ginny. It examines the communicative, semiotic, social and psychological dimensions of the context of situation. Chapter IV studies the linguistic phenomena and syntactic positions relating to the context of situation and how Ibn Ginny dealt with them. The thesis has concluded that the context of situation is the proper explanation for many different irregular cases and that Arab grammarian has considered it
