Abstract : This Study investigates the changes of syllable which resulted from the conjugation of Arabic verb from the contemporary viewpoint according to the phonological analysis method which, unlike the traditional method for phonological analysis, analyzes the syllable into two components. The study aims at analyzing the syllable structure to discover the changes of the syllables caused by the verb conjugation. It aims at identifying the relation between the phonological and morphological changes and determining which one is following the other. Therefore, the thesis has five chapters preceded by an introduction and preface and followed by a conclusion. The preface discusses the methods of phonological analyses and studies some issues of syllable in Arabic. Chapter I is about the phonological changes of syllable which resulted from the morphological change of adding letters to the Arabic verb. Chapter II investigates the phonological changes of syllable which resulted from conjugating the verb according to the tense. Chapter III examines the phonological changes of syllable which resulted from conjugating the verb from active voice to passive voice. Chapter IV studies the phonological changes of syllable which resulted from attributing the verb to a pronoun. Chapter V investigates the phonological changes of syllable which resulted from emphasizing the verb by adding “non tawkeed”. The study follows the descriptive and analytical methods in its different chapters. It has concluded that the syllable changes in Arabic because of the morphological changes has not its own phonological rules, rather they follow the morphological changes. i.e. the phonological changes follow the morphological ones. In addition, It has concluded that the phonological analysis does not differentiate between many different morphological changes.
