KAU Oncology Conference 2013 holds closing session

At its closing session on Thursday January 17th, KAU Oncology Conference 2013 recommended the establishment of a national oncology institute and an on-campus oncology centre.
Conferees also recommended the need to raise public awareness about cancers and early detection.
The three-day conference, which took place from 15-17 January at King Faisal Convention Centre, was organised by the Faculty of Medicine and the Research Endowment Fund (REF).
The closing ceremony was graced with the presence of President of King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Prof Osama S. Tayyeb.
This year's conference focused on presenting the latest developments in preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
Other topics include public awareness, oncology psycho-social and oncology nursing, he added.
The event attracted about 1900 participants from 13 countries.
