The Department of Astronomical Sciences of the Faculty of Science at KAU monitored and documented the transit from its beginning until sunset.
The 2016 transit commenced on May 9 at 14:12 and ended later that same day at 21:42 UT, with mid-transit taking place at 17:57.
The previous transit was in November 2006.
The next Mercury transits will take place on November 11 2019.
