International Students:
KAU, similar to other Saudi Universities, follows the Royal decree for accepting non-Saudi students to study at KAU. At KAU, two types of scholarships are available aiming to attract students who are scientifically distinguished: the External Scholarship for students from outside the Kingdom and the Internal Scholarship for foreign students with legal residence in the Kingdom. Conditions and mechanisms for accepting both types of scholarship students are available on KAU websiteand in the admission guide. The competition is made between non-Saudi students within the limits of the allocated seats according to the admission criteria. Internal scholarship students apply through Azziz portal. After the verification and validation of their documents, students’ data are uploaded to the scholarship program designated for scholarship students. Once nominated and accepted, students are notified to complete the admission procedure. On the other hand, External scholarship students apply through the external scholarship portal (Gapol)or through the Embassy/ Consulate of Saudi Arabia in their respective countries. After the verification of student’s information, data is submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval and acceptance. Accepted students are then notified to visit the Embassy of Saudi Arabia for attestation of documents and a visa is issued to the student in order to complete the necessary formalities for travel to Saudi Arabia.
KAU works to attract distinguished international students by coordinating international visits to attract talented students through partnerships and MoU. For example, a delegation from the university has visited China in 2017 to attract talented Chinese students to achieve diversity and to enrich scientific research and to establish scientific and cultural links with educational institutions, Islamic and scientific bodies, and institutions in the world. The Vice-Deanship of Students Affairs for Scholarship at KAU is dedicated to provide a wide range of services and facilities to international scholarship students websiteThe journey of the Vice-Deanship with international scholarship students starts from their application, acceptance and issuing their visas. Upon their arrival at the airport, scholarship students are received by the KAU designated team and transferred to the university accommodation. Subsequently, students undergo the medical examination followed by issuing the resident identity and university card and register on ODUS Plus. Additional services include issuing a bank card to receive a monthly allowance, receiving two months allowance upon arrival and travel compensation and providing health care, accommodation and food at discounted prices and services are extended to cover their families. Furthermore, KAU organizes different social, cultural and sports events and activities to welcome international scholarship students and engage them with the KAU community. International scholarship students can also join the International Students Club websiteand perform the Hajj with all expenses covered by KAU.
Similar to national students, KAU is very keen to involve international scholarship students in decision making and to take the responsibilities and to contribute to the development of the educational and other services provided by the university. Therefore, the Scholarship Student Advisory Committee was established websiteAdditionally, the Deanship for Graduate Studies also organizes meetings with postgraduate international students to get more insights into the needs of those students.
