Second Meeting of JCC's Advisory Council Held

 


The Advisory Council of Jeddah Community College (JCC) held its second meeting in this academic year on Saturday, October 23rd, at King Faisal Conference Center in the presence of Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, KAU Vice President for Educational Affairs.

The meeting, which was chaired by Dr Ibrahim I. Kutubi, JCC's Dean, was also attended by JCC's vice deans and head departments, as well as representatives of public and private sector entities, Labour Office, Ministry of Education, the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) and some other corporate, medical and information technology partners.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Kutubi thanked the participants for taking part and supporting JCC's activities.

He also said that the human resources programme offered by JCC in conjunction with HRDF was accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE), pointing out that the first batch of the programme would be graduating shortly.

He also called upon the participating entities to offer the students of the first batch job and internship opportunities so as to encourage more students to join the programme.

Dr Rashad Al-Hindi, JCC's Vice Dean for Development, gave a presentation on the College's e-learning programme, maintaining that by the end of this year JCC would be conducting all its academic programmes using the distance learning technology.

Dr Luai Khashogi, Head Department of Public Relations, Saudi Aramco, also confirmed that Aramco strived to offer training opportunities for the JCC's graduates.

Dr Mamdouh Gary, JCC's Vice Dean, shed light on JCC's evening parallel programme, stressing that it would allow working citizens and expatriates, whose studies had been interrupted for experiencing personal difficulties, to restart their studies in any of the JCC's offered programmes.

Eng Mahmoud Al-Turkistani, of the National Commercial Bank (NCB), expressed his bank's preparedness to support the programme by offering its students job placement opportunities so as to gain them the experience of working in a banking atmosphere.

Mr Abdulaziz Al-Ahmadi, Chairman of SABIC's branch in the Western Region, also hailed the programme, urging JCC's administration to give it greater publicity so as to attract more students to join.

Meanwhile, JCC's administration thanked Mr Abdurrahim Al-Maghrabi, Deputy Head of Educational Affairs, Ministry of Education, for coordinating JCC's visits to secondary schools in Jeddah.

Mr Mohammed Galal, Director of the Saudi Recruitment Programme, Labour Office, lauded the mutual cooperation between the Labour Office and JCC towards providing JCC's graduates with job and training opportunities.
