KAU Students Sign Scholarship Contracts with SABIC

On behalf of Prof Abdulrahman Alyoubi, KAU Vice President, Prof Abdullah Mustafa Mihriji, KAU Dean of student Affairs, has attended a contract signing ceremony of scholarships offered to a group of distinguished KAU students by the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).

SABIC is a pioneer Middle East company in the field of basic industries. One of its primary goals is to qualify outstanding administrative and engineering cadres to address the needs of the Saudi employment market.

According to the contract, selected students will be employed by SABIC after graduation and will enjoy a range of benefits, including monthly and annual bursaries, scientific books and references allowances, health insurance and monthly housing allowances.

SABIC will also pay the tuition fees in full for all selected programmes in accordance with the university's regulations. Any additional programmes will not be paid for without first obtaining the approval of SABIC's Career Development Department.

The signing ceremony was held at the Graduates' Hall, Deanship of Student Affairs, in the presence of a delegation from SABIC headed by Eng Ali Al Gharni.

During the ceremony, students were familiarised with their contractual rights.

Prof Mihriji maintained that the signing of these contracts was within the implementation process of a three-year agreement reached by KAU and SABIC.

According to Prof Mihriji, the agreement allows SABIC to grant internal scholarships to distinguished KAU students to undertake specialties relevant to its business.

Prof Mihriji went on to say that the agreement was one of the strategic plans designed to foster the cooperation between KAU and SABIC in the fields of scientific and academic research programmes.

He also thanked Dr Abdulrahman Al Habib, Vice Dean of Student Affairs, for his strenuous efforts to make the agreement a reality.

This was released by Dr Haytham A. Zakai, Supervisor General of Public Relations and Media.
