Free-fall Lifeboat Exercise Staged by Faculty of Maritime Studies

 

A free-fall lifeboat training was staged by the Faculty of Maritime Studies on Sunday March 11th, 2012 in Sharm Abhor.

The exercise was launched by Dr Salem M. Al-Harbi, the Faculty's Dean, in the presence of a delegation of NorMar Marine Services, the Dutch manufacturer of the lifeboats used.

Also present in the launch were Dr Abdullah M. Al-Sobhi, the Faculty's vice dean, Dr Hesham Jilani, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, Captain Ahmed Ansi, Head of the Navigation Department and representative of Baaboud Trading and Shipping Agencies, and a swarm of the Faculty's academics, technicians and students of the Navigation Department.

According to Dr Abdullah M. Al-Sobhi, the Faculty's Vice Dean, the Faculty owns three life boats, one with a capacity of 36 persons, another with a capacity of 25 persons and a third with a capacity of 16 persons.

 He also revealed that work on a new marine platform had been completed a few days ago.
