Profile:

Sadek, Zeghib, Algerian nuclear physicist and researcher.

Ph.D. and MSc from Purdue University at West Lafayette , Indiana – USA, Experimental and Applied Nuclear Physics.   (GPA : 5.5/6)

Achievements: Discovery of unusually large number (thirty-eight -38) of new nuclear states along with a more complete decay scheme (for 82 identified states) of Silver Ag111 nucleus (Sadek's nucleus as described) using proton-gamma-gamma coincidence nuclear technique. A major new research program was build on these exciting discoveries as reported by my supervisor Pr. P.C. Simms. Four (4) PhD theses on 97,99,101, 93Tc isotopes were performed using the same technique in the nineties. ALLAH (God) willing, I was responsible for the calculation and interpretation of the results for 97, 99 and 101 Tc isotopes (of three PhD theses work) during my scientific visit 1994-1995 at “my respected” Purdue University.

Currently, I am pursuing research work in applied nuclear physics (with available resources) to radiation hazard assessment from environmental samples, radio-geological hazard, radiation shielding. In parallel, complementary research on theoretical nuclear structure of transitional nuclei was conducted for convenience. Research interests are broader depending on equipment availability.

    Research Interests:

    Research Interests 

    1. Applied nuclear physics to different sectors (medical, industry, agriculture, mineralogy, forensic science, geology, …etc) by using Non Destructive Techniques such as neutron activation analysis (NAA), Proton (particle) induced X-ray Emission (PIXE), AMS (Accelerator mass Spectrometry), EDXRF,…etc.
    2. -Use and application of radioisotopes in various fields.
    3. Use of Nuclear Accelerators for nuclear structure studies (excitation functions, coincidences, angular distributions, polarization) such as nuclear structure of transitional nuclei.
    4. Nuclear structure of transitional nuclei (theoretical).
    5. Environmental radioactivity ( rocks , soils, water, plants , radon gas i.e. external and internal exposure )
    6. Radiation Detection and measurements.
    7. Health physics and radiation protection.
    8. Radio-geological hazard (external exposure and internal exposure).
    9. Radiation dosimetry.
