Profile

Dr Intakhab Alam Khan, an eminent educationist from New Delhi-India is Full Professor (Education) at Applied college, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah-Saudi Arabia.

 

Educational Background

Dr Khan, an expert in contrastive linguistics (as a teaching strategy) obtained  Ph. D, M. Phil., M.Ed., B. Ed from Jamia Millia Islamia (a central govt. university in Delhi-India). He earned the degrees of  Master of Arts in English(with Applied linguistics) and B.A.(Honors)  from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh-India.

Research and Publications

Dr Khan has already authored 18 books in the area of Education/ training/ pedagogy/ English language teaching. In addition, he has contributed around 75 papers in ISSN/ refereed/ peer reviewed/ open access/ online/ impact factor/print journals (in India, Canada, UK, USA, Pakistan, Malaysia etc) and local journals. Some of them are indexed in Web of Science/Scopus databases.

Funded projects

Dr Khan has been part of a 9 funded research projects ( as principal/co-researcher) sponsored by the King Abdulaziz university-Jeddah, KSA.

Editorship

Dr. Khan is an honorary editor/associate editor/asst editor/reviewer of many educational journals being published from Canada, USA, Pakistan, Switzerland etc. He is the founder editor of GESD, an international print journal, published from Delhi-India. In addition, Dr Khan is on the editorial panel of around 40 international journals.

Professional Development

Dr. Khan has been engaged in different academic and teacher developmental activities throughout his career during which he visited and presented research papers in the UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Turkey. He was sponsored by the King Abdulaziz university to take part in 2 week teacher trainer program held at the Greenwich Community college, UK.

Academic pursuit

Dr. Khan has more than 28 years of teaching experience at graduation/master’s level in India and Saudi Arabia. He has also supervised many post graduate dissertations in the field of teaching/education.
 

Awards and Honor

Dr. Intakhab Alam Khan was awarded an honor of D. Lit (Education) from the International University of contemporary studies, Washington DC-USA in 2005. He has always been considered as an effective teacher. He also received best/ideal faculty and distinguished researcher awards for his hard work and dedication.

Scientific interests

I taught English course in the College of Health Sciences, Jazan, KSA for 12 years before joining the Community College/Applied college, Jeddah. The intensive programme of English included the teaching of Reading,Listening/Speaking,Writing/Grammar.In addition, Medical Terminology was also taught by me.I also took active part in seminars, workshops etc. apart from writing books based on my background and  classroom experiences in the kingdom.
                   In India, I taught around 8 years before joining the college of health sciences, Jazan, KSA.I was a teacher educator. I always enjoyed  teaching Methods of Teaching English,Theory of Education and Management of Teaching.I always took part in co -curricular activities and tried to evolve some fruitful strategies for teaching in general and English language in particular.
At present,I am teaching an intensive programme of English for the students of community college, Jeddah who
 would choose their specialisations in the second year. The specialties are:BIT,CIT and HIT.
The course of English includes Reading,Listening and Writing along with Grammar.
