Profile

Asma  Bahurmoz is full Professor at King  Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, received her PhD in 1993 in Engineering from Imperial College for Science, Technology and Medicine, The University of London in the United Kingdom.   She is the first Saudi female to have received a PhD degree in Engineering and to become a Fellow of the British Operational Research Society (FORS) and a member of the editorial board of Altadreeb W. Altaqnia Journal (Training and Technology), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She was appointed by H.R.H. Prince Abdul Majeed Bin Abdulaziz as a member of the first Economic and Social Council for Serving Makkah Region 2000. She has also served as a part time consultant at the Ministry of Transportation.

 As far as academic activities are concerned, she became the Dean of King Abdulaziz University, Women’s Campus, and also participated in setting up one of the first private colleges in Saudi Arabia and serving as its first Dean.  Her research activities focus on introducing and applying Operations Research methods for decision making in the Arab world. She wrote three books and several scientific papers in addition to writing articles frequently in local magazines and newspapers.  She has participated in many international and local conferences as an organizer and as a speaker.
