PhD in Biotechnology and Marine Microbiology (2007): School of Life Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
Research title: Studies of antibiotic-producing bacteria from the marine environment.
Techniques used:
Molecular Biology: Transduction, transformation, Transposon mutagenesis, colony screening,
DNA-RNA-Plasmid extraction, cDNA synthesis, plasmid construction, PCR, I-PCR, Real-Time
PCR, DNA sequencing, genome walking, band shift assay.
Microbiology: general microbiology techniques, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy.
Biochemical assay: Cell viability assay, protein assay.

Research title: Microflora of fresh and ice stored grouper (Epinephelus polyphekadeion) with emphasis on spoilage and shelf life.
