KAU Claims Gold Medal of GGC Youth Forum

A KAU Student has won the gold medal of a scientific research competition organised on the sidelines of the GCC Youth Forum in Sharjah, UAE.
 
Hassan Alttas's winning project was under the title of "Reducing Traffic Congestion in West Jeddah".

This year's forum was under the patronage of HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Heir Apparent and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The activities of the forum were attended by HE Abdulrahman Bin Mohammed Al Oais, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and a number of GCC leading youth and sports executives representing KSA, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

KAU delegation was headed by Dr Diya Shujaa Al Osmani, Supervisor General of the Center for Talented Students at the Deanship of Students' Affairs.
 
Prof Abdullah Mustafa Mehriji, KAU Dean of Students' Affairs, pointed out that KAU had participated with a number of scientific research projects along with the winning project, including:

• "Trucks Monitoring System" by Mr Majed Salih Al Ghamidi and Mr Khalid Salih Al Salama.

• "An Educational Programme on Environmental Health and Occupational Safety at Workplace" by Mr Riyadh Farouq Halawani and Ahmed Mahmoud Al Rumaikhani.

•  "The Smart Washing Machine" by Ahmed Mohammed Al Qarni.

• "Controlling Car Parkings" by Saud Salih Al Suairi.

• "Protecting Personal Data and Family Photos from Theft" by Saud Mohammed Al Wasili.

• "A Device for Reducing Water Consumption" by Badr Mohammed Al Ghamidi.

• "Solar-powered Electricity Generation" by Ibrahim Ramadan Abu Sheikh.

• "A Sensitive Smoke Detector" by Hussein Juneid Shalabi.

• "Controlling Household Appliances" by Ma'an Mohammed Al Hazimi.

• "A Security System for Control and Operation" by Hisham Mohammed Al Obaisi.

KAU's participation also included projects targeting people with special needs, environment preservation, motorists' safety, computer control and operation skills and dealing with storms, earthquakes, nuclear radiation and global warming.

Some members of the Arab Science and Technology Foundation took part as competition judges.

This was unveiled by Mr Ahmed Mohammed Al Omari, a media coordinator at the Deanship of Students' Affairs.
