Etman Lecturer of Instructional Technology Dametta Faculty of Education Mansoura University 2007 Summary of the Study Introduction: As a result of the enormous technological advancements in all fields, communications had to develop just the same way. That is, information communications made a huge leap forward as a result of the Information Supers High Way, which in turn resulted in high quality services in all fields such medicine, industry, ecology and education. The Problem of the Study: The Problem of the study is determined in the following basic question: - What is the effectiveness of a Web-based Learning program in the instruction at student teachers how to deal with technological innovations? This basic question can branch out into the following research question: 1- What are the technological innovations that student teachers can learn about, to could be integrated in the educational process? 2- What are the Skills necessary for student teachers to deal with technological innovations? 3- What are the criteria necessary for designing a Web-based learning program for the purpose of instructing student teachers how to deal with technological innovations? 4- What is final version of program for instructing the Skills of dealing with technological innovations, using a suitable model for instructional design and development? 5- What is the effectiveness of a web- based learning program, for instructing student teachers cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations, in the following domains: • Student teachers achievement of cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations. • Performance skills of dealing with technological innovations. 6- What is the effect size of a web- based learning program, for instructing student teachers how to deal with technological innovations, on the following: • Cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations. • Performance skills of dealing with technological innovations. 7- What is the efficiency of a web- based learning program, for instructing student teachers skills of dealing with technological innovations, on the following: • Cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations. • Performance skills of dealing with technological innovation. The Aims of the Study: The percent study aims at making known the following: 1- Technological innovations student teachers can be taught to deal with, to be integrated in the instructional process. 2- Skills necessary for student teachers to deal with technological innovations. 3- How to design a web- based learning program for instructing student teachers skills of dealing with technological innovations. 4- Making use of web- based earning in instructing student teachers how to deal with technological innovations. The Significance of the Study: The present studyَs Significance lies in following: 1- Coming up with a list of the technological innovations student teachers can be taught to deal with. 2- Coming up with a list of skills of dealing with technological innovations. 3- Designing and developing a web- based learning program for instructing student teachers how to deal with technological innovations. Delimitation of the Study: 1- Topic- based limitations: Web- based learning, e-mail / electronic mail, web- page design, multimedia technology. 2- Place- based limitation: a random sample of fourth year student at faculty of Education, damietta- Mansoura university, consisting of (82) students (male and female) 3- Time- based limitation: The program was brood casted online and the actual administration began in the period from 18/11/2006 to 20/12/2006. The hypotheses of the Study: 1- There is a statistical difference at the level < 0.05 between the means of teacher studentَ s grades in the achievement test of measuring the cognitive sides of dealing with technological innovations skills. 2- There is a statistical difference at the level < 0.05 between the means of teacher studentَ s grades in the results of pre test observation sheet of performance sides of dealing with technological innovations skills in favor of post testing. 3- The program achieves effectiveness at 1.2 level in instructing student teachers the cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations to student teachers, and Blake rate of modified gain percentage was measured. 4- The program achieves effectiveness at 1.2 level in instructing student teachers the performance skills of dealing with technological innovations to student teachers, and Blake rate of modified gain percentage was measured. 5- The program achieves effectiveness at 0.6 in instructing student teachers the cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations, and McGogianَs effectiveness rate was measured. 6- The program achieves effectiveness at 0.6 in instructing student teachers the performance skills of dealing with technological innovations, and McGogianَs effectiveness rate was measured. 7- The program achieves effect size at 0.14 in instructing student teachers the cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations. 8- The program achieves effect size at 0.14 in instructing student teachers the performance skills of dealing with technological innovations. 9- The program achieves effacing highs than 90/90 in cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations. 10- The program achieves effacing highs than 90/90 in performance skills of dealing with technological innovations. Procedures of the Study: The researcher followed the procedures of developmental studies which include applying the systematic steps of instructional design and development, according to the following model: 1- Stage of study and analysis: a) Reviewing prior literature and research in the field. b) Appling job analysis, theoretical models and need assessment with regard to dealing with technological innovations. c) Coming up with a list of the technological innovations student teachers can be taught to deal with. And showing the list to experts and specialized juries in the field of instructional technology. d) Coming up with a list of general skills related to web- based learning and e-mail and web- page design and multimedia student teachers can be taught to deal with, and showing the list to experts and juries in the field. e) Preparing a final version of the skills and sub- skills list student teachers can be taught in the field of web- based learning, e-mail, web-page design and multimedia technology. 2- Design Stage: a) Designing educational goals and analyzing and classifying them. b) Designing criterion- based measurements, as represented by an achievement test measuring the cognitive domain of the program for instructing skills of dealing with technological innovations, as well as check lists for, rating the students performance of the skills of dealing with innovations. c) Designing the content and the design strategies. d) Designing instructional interactive strategies scenarios of the program for instructing skills of dealing with technological innovations. 3- Development Stage: a) Designing and preparing the events board related to each module including the text, the pictures, the drawing, the voice comments, and the sound effects. b) Producing the program using both Java Script and Html, as well as some helping programs such as Flash Max and Goldwave program, Swish Max program and Camtasia studio4 program. c) Showing the program in its final Shape to experts and specialized juries in the field of instructional technology and making all changes necessary before applying the program. 4- Stage of final Evaluation and conducting the experimentation: a) Administering the program to a small sample of students as a pilot experiment to make all necessary changes necessary before final administration. b) Designing a site for the course online and publishing the program on it for use. c) Administering the achievement test, then administering student performance check- lists to determine and pre- test the cognitive and performance skills. d) Beginning of students learning process through the programs site online (web- site). e) Conducting appropriate statistical treatments of the achievement test data and the performance check lists. f) Preparing the study results report and the suggested recommendations. g) Designing the suggested research project. Results of the Study: 1- Preparing a list of Technological innovations student teachers are taught to deal with. 2- Preparing a list of the general skills and sub- skills student teachers are taught to deal with technological innovations. 3- Criteria of designing a web- based program for instructing student teachers skills of dealing with innovations. 4- A web- based learning program for instructing student teachers skills of dealing with technological innovations. 5- The program achieved effectiveness at 1.49 level between the mean scores of the pre and post achievement tests of student teachers skills of dealing with technological innovations after calculating Blake's rate of modified gain percentage. 6- The program achieved effectiveness at 1.61 level between the mean scores student teachers pre and post skills of dealing with technological innovations after calculating Blake's rate of modified gain percentage. 7- The program achieved effectiveness at 0.85 level between the mean scores of student teachers achievement pre and post test of the skills of dealing with technological innovations after calculating McGogianَs effectiveness rate. 8- The program achieved effectiveness at 0.82 level between the mean scores of student teacherَs pre and post testing of performance on the checklists of skills of dealing with technological innovations after calculating McGogianَs effectiveness rate. 9- The program achieved effect size at 0.99 level between the mean scores of student teachers pre and post achievement tests of the skills dealing with technological innovations. 10- The program achieved effect size at 0.98 between the mean scores of student teachers pre and post testing of performance checklists of the skills of dealing with technological innovations. 11- The program achieved efficiency at 875 TO 90% in measuring the cognitive skills of dealing with technological innovations and at 85% to 86.9% in the performance skills.
