Abstract : ABSTRACT. In this study, the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) brightness temperatures were used to estimate land surface temperature at 15:00 (GMT), when the satellite passes over Saudi Arabia. The statistical correlations between land surface temperature and the SSM/I brightness temperatures were found over the two years 1995 and 1996. It was found that good correlation coefficients (R‡0.871) occurred between the SSM/I brightness temperatures and land surface temperature at 15:00 (GMT).
