Abstract : This paper presents a model of a 6-phase machine based on symmetrical component theory. A mathematical model of the machine, with nine windings, is developed into instantaneous symmetrical components. These, in turn, are used to derive expressions relating phasor symmetrical components of voltages and currents. Such a model is very useful in treating asymmetrical faults.
