Abstract : This study deals with the body language used in the Holy Quran from the perspective of semiotics of the contemporary Linguistics with its three structural, semantic and pragmatic dimensions. It also investigates the role of interpreters and linguists in deducing its meanings. It examines the psychological and emotive implications standing behind motive of using body language used in the Holy Quran and how body language well express these implications. In addition, it studies the main features of the human characters across the history and discuss their psychological and social dimensions. The thesis has adopted the analytical method in studying the Quranic verses in the perspective of the linguistic theories. It has used the method of induction as well. It has revealed the elements that constitute the structure and the other ones that do not constitute it in the body language in the holy Quran. Furthermore, it determined the structural elements that have the basic role in defining the signifier (gesture) and the signified (its meaning). Moreover, the thesis has revealed the semiotic connotations of the human body parts used in body language. It also discussed the significations of these meanings, the different human types according to their body language and their different illocutionary acts. The study discussed the role of body languages in human communication and their impact. It also compared between verbal language and the body language and proved that the body language has a special meaningful power. The thesis has suggested that the body language should be taught along with the different linguistic skill as writing, reading and conversation to improve the communicative and persuasive skills. It also suggested composing an encyclopedic dictionary for body language from the classic Arabic language. The suggested that the other non-verbal languages as kinesics , body distance , apparrence and clothes , communicative space …ect should be studied in Quran.
