Lecture on domestic violence organised by Deanship of Community Services and Continuing Education

A lecture on domestic violence was organised Monday by Deanship of Community Services and Continuing Education at King Faisal Convention Centre.


The lecture was delivered by Dr Ayed Al-Shahrani, Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work.


According to Dr Al-Sharani a study conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that women aged between 15-49 had experienced domestic violence across the world.


15% of the women in Japan and 70% in Ethiopia and Peru have experienced some sort of domestic violence, according to the study.


Types of violence include but not limited to slapping, punching, Kicking and having sexual intercourse without consent.
