His Excellency the Director of the University Inaugurates the Launch of University Director Award for Excellence in Community Service (Second Session)
His Excellency the Director of the University Dr. AbdulRahman bin Obaid AlYobi (Head of the Award Secretariat Committee) launched on Sunday 19 Rabie Awal 1438 corresponding to 18 December 2016 in his office the contest of University Director Award for Excellence in the service of the community in its second season and new appearance. It is sponsored by the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education and attended by members of award secretariat committee:
- The university representative for works and cognitive creativity Dr. Abdullah bin Omer Bafail (deputy chairman)
- The dean of Community Service and Continuing Education (member)
- The representative of the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education (member)
- The representative of the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education for development and the general superintendant of social responsibility department (Committee secretary)
- The deputy general superintendant for social responsibility and community service (member)
- Dr. Habeeb Ullah Turkmanstani
- Dr. Ayedh AlShamrani
- Dr Nahla Gahwajee
- Mr. Naser A;Ghamdi
The dean of Community Service and Continuing Education thanked His Excellency the Director of the University for his support for the award and for presiding it which clearly shows its importance and the appreciation of the university management for it.
Also the representative of the deanship for development Dr. Hamed bin AbdulRaouf Saleh (the secretary of the committee) presented a detailed explanation of the mechanism of the award which aims to achieve the vision and mission of the university in reaching the goals of social responsibility and contribution to community service in a sustained way in its course for future vision. He spoke about the sections of the award and aspects branching from it which are as follows:
*Best Sector Award (faculty/institute/centers/chair) who presented services to community service.
*Best Teaching Staff Prize: for services presented to the community
*the Best Administrator /Technical worker Award who presented services to the community
*Best Student Award to who presented services to the community
This was in accordance with the terms established for the award in which will be through the award website within the university website, declaring that the last date for submitting the works is: 17/05/1438 through the e-mail of the award (award-community@kau.edu.sa
His Excellency also explained the executive plan of the award work for this year from launching it to honoring the awarded within the social responsibility of the university and the private sector.
His Excellency the Director spoke about the award of the university director for excellence in community service and the positive aspect of the award which aims to honor and appreciate social works presented by sectors and employees of the university to the community. He said that the founder’s university is outstanding and pioneering in its scientific, research and social programs, therefore we must honor and appreciate those who exert efforts and donate. He added: the university vision and mission adopts its new direction in line with the Kingdom’s future vision (2030) and clearly confirms that community service is one of the central and main features of academic goals and objectives and that contribution to local community requires providing good education and educational opportunities for community members and added that based on this the university commits to community service and provides efforts and services that shall positively impact it. He believed that such activities and awards represent an integral part of the university social responsibility towards the community.
