KAU hosts THE Times Higher Education MENA Universities Summit 2018

KAU is getting ready to hold the Times Higher Education Middle East & North Africa Universities Summit on March 19-21, 2018 under the theme: “Fulfilling our Potential: Developing Knowledge-Based Economies in the Middle East and North Africa Region.”  This major international event will be held for the very first time ever in Saudi Arabia; and will be attended by the presidents and officials of world-renowned universities and educational institutions.

KAU President Professor Abdul-Rahman Al-Youbi, who heads the conference’s supreme supervisory committee, stressed that the Summit reflects the Kingdom leadership’s unlimited support, as well as the great scientific progress and prominent status attained by KAU in various international rankings – in comparison with Middle Eastern and African universities.  Alluding to the conference goals, Al-Youbi noted that they include the development of international universities’ methodologies for updating data in order to identify the best universities and educational institutes in the region by utilizing the latest technologies, and forging bilateral and international alliances for mutual progress and development. As he put it, this would, undoubtedly, help secure the international prestige required for their transformation into world-class universities.

THE Times MENA Summit is expected to examine strategies that could be used by universities’ Higher Administrations for attracting corporate industrial capital for endowing excellent scientific research; as well as adopting highly advanced curricula capable of attracting students with great scientific expectations and potentials – empowering them to overcome the great challenges confronted by educational institutions.  The conference will also discuss the leading role that could be played by universities in helping countries to transform their natural resources-based economies into knowledge-based economies.
