College of Arts Celebrates its Academic Accreditation Award

 

 


On February 20, 2012 and under the patronage of H.E. the President of the University Prof. Osama S. Tayyib, a ceremony was organised at the University King Faysal Conference Centre to celebrate the College of Arts academic accreditation award by the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE).

Among those in attendance were  university vice presidents, college deans, many faculty members and students from both campuses. In his opening address, the President stated clearly that the achievement by the college of arts should not be an end in itself, but instead an excellent springboard to future accomplishments. He also urged everybody  to keep up the momentum and added that  sustained and dedicated work  is the only guarantor of continued success. The President  went on to stress the fact that the College should continue to strive for excellence by improving learning through innovative  programs, improved delivery of courses and effective pedagogical methods. The college should also upgrade its research programs and adopt technology enhanced education. In his concluding remarks, the President thanked the Dean of Arts, the Vice Deans and faculty and staff for their limitless efforts and commitment that made this achievement a reality.

On his part, the University Vice President for Development, Dr. Zuheer Damanhori commended the college of arts for this outstanding achievement which, he said,  will reflect positively on the quality and standing of the college. He added that fulfilling accreditation criteria will in the long term positively impact on the quality of education delivered to our students.

The Dean of Arts, Dr. Osama R. Jastaniah took the opportunity to express , on behalf of the college, his most sincere appreciation and gratitude to the university administration for its continued massive support to the College. He added that without the enlightened leadership, sound planning and clear vision, this achievement would not have been possible . The Dean also extended his thanks to the college faculty, staff and students for giving their time, passion and support to attain  this goal. He added that by achieving accreditation for its programs, the KAU College of Arts has become an outstanding institution of higher learning benefiting tremendously faculty and graduates alike.
