Essam Mohammed Banoqitah

 Associate Professor

Profile

Since I had my training with Siemens Company, I developed an interest in Medical Physics, especially in Gamma Camera. Later I took some courses, like Imaging II, (Health Physics) Radiation Protection, Biochemistry, Biology, Physiology and Medical Instrumentation and enhanced my knowledge in this very relevant area.

To improve my skills, I took 171 hours (Minimum requirements to graduate is 156 hours) to graduate from Electrical and Computer Engineering. This helped to increase my awareness of field related to Medical Physics. After that, my master project was in the PET scanner ECAT EXACT-31 from Siemens Company. The M.Sc. thesis title is “characterising the performance of the Positron scanner ECAT EXACT-31”. The PhD was in an advance gamma ray imaging in the application to nuclear medicine using a pixellated Compton camera. The PhD thesis title is “Enhancing the Performance of the UCL Pixellated HPGe Compton Camera using Split Events for Nuclear Medicine Studies”.
