Research Interests
Isolation and characterization of bacterial cell membrane proteins, mechanisms of translocation and assembly of the outer membrane. Also, it includes antimicrobial sensitivity of membrane-defect mutants.
In addition, the alarming increase of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the community and hospitals, and the limited availability of effective antibiotics such as vancomycin increases my interests to study the phenomina of this drug resistance. particularly, the effect of mutagenesis of ?mec?A gene and other responsible genes for this resistance. also the limited amount of reports in Saudi Arabia about MRSA in hospitals increases my interests to perform intensive surveillance about the current situation of MRSA.
Moreover, recently I became interested in understanding the side effects of using live attenuated vaccines such as MMR vaccine for patients with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).
Scientific interests
Lecturing for medical microbiology to second year medical students, third year dentistry, pharmacology and nursing students.
In addition, I participate in lecturing for master students and supervising graduation projects at the department of medical microbiology and parasitology - Faculty of Medicine - KAU.
