Students Support

History

In addition to maintaining rigorous academic standards, there are various processes and supporting mechanisms in place within FEA and KAU to enhance student retention as noted below.

1. The university offers monthly allowances to all students regardless of their financial circumstances. In addition, loans and other financial aid are available to students with limited financial resources if they qualify according to the criteria set forth by the social counsellors and the deanship of student affairs.

2. Within FEA, top performers are identified from their GPAs. If they achieve an average A grade in two consecutive semesters, they are entitled to an additional allowance.

3. A specialized office has been established within FEA to meet the needs of disadvantaged students (students with special needs).

4. FEA faculty are immediately alerted and intervene if it is deemed that a particular student’s progress is in jeopardy. For example, 'at risk' students within FEA are recommended to seek help from FEA Tutoring Center (FEATC) which offers tutoring in mathematics, finance, accounting and statistics. FEATC also offers counselling services in areas such as study skills, best practices in taking notes, developing exam preparation skills and preparing for homework.

5. Advice is on hand for all students from faculty members, advising offices within FEA, and program director, as well as a dedicated senior faculty member from each department who serves as a student affairs liaison.
