CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

PAEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGY:  From December 1994, I worked as a registrar in paediatric nephrology at the RFH in London and from July 1995 as senior registrar (SR) in paediatric nephrology in the same institution. From September 1996, I have worked as paediatric nephrology SR at Great Ormond Street hospital. I learned how to manage renal transplantation, peritoneal and haemodialysis. I did the nephrotic clinic for one year and hypertension clinic for another year. In addition to the ward follow up clinic (general nephrology) which, I have covered for 1 year. I had a contract as honorary paediatric nephrology SR at GOS after I left the department until September 2000, which enabled me to continue my research in paediatric nephrology. Since September 2000, I had been working as a consultant paediatric nephrologist at KAUH in Jeddah, which covers a large population.  we have established a paediatrics renal unit with peritoneal and haemodialysis facilities. . I have kept my link with the UK to keep my self updated by doing locums in good centers such as GOS

GENERAL PAEDIATRICS: I have been working as a paediatrician for the last 19 years.  I have built a lot of experience in acute paediatrics in developing country. After moving to the UK, I consolidated my general paediatrics experience at Newham, Oldchurch Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.  I found working in multi-racial community of East London and Romford very interesting indeed. My current job involves covering general paediatrics on-calls.

TEACHING: As a member of an academic department, I have been involved in undergraduate teaching throughout my career. During my training at the Royal Free Hospital and Old Church hospital, I was involved in teaching medical students. Since early 1991 I have also been actively involved in postgraduate teaching. Currently, I am teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate students and I am a regular Saudi board examiner.
