Abstract : This research aims at accomplishing the following: identifying the types of solid waste, identifying the most polluted areas, studying the environmental analysis of the effects of solid waste, and identifying the proper methods for disposing of solid waste in the study area. This is in line with the Kingdom's vision 2030 regarding preserving the environment and natural resources, and activating the environmental dimension being one of the foundations of sustainable development. To achieve the abovementioned goals, three approaches were used, they are as follows: the analytical descriptive approach, the spatial analysis approach, and the applied utility approach. Thirty samples were taken in a systematic manner with the capacity of one liter to investigate the effect of dissolved chemical elements, rare elements (heavy metals) and bacteriology. This research concluded the following results: 1. The averages of the following elements: (total dissolved solids, nitrates, phosphates, mercury, arsenic, copper, iron, nickel, lead) are all higher than the permissible limit prescribed by the Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection. In addition, sample No. (23) which was taken from Al-Arbaeen Lake is characterized by high elements according to the following rates: phosphate 4,9 mg / liter, nitrate 145,68 mg / liter, arsenic 0,181 mg / liter, mercury 0,251 mg / liter, copper 0,512 mg / liter, iron 0.0749 mg / liter , nickel 0,106 mg /liter and lead 0,325 mg / liter. 2. Solid waste is concentrated in the Central Fish Market area by 48%, in Al-Shabab Lake by 34%, and in Al-Arbaeen Lake by 18%, and the ammonia component was not identified in the water samples. 3. Salmonella bacteria were not identified in the water samples, whereas 40% of the samples carry Escherichia coli bacteria, and 20% of the samples carry Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 4. The largest part of the solid waste, in the study area, consists of plastic materials, followed by several other elements, they are as follows: glass, metal materials, cardboard, wood, and other materials which include the following (foam containers to keep fish, food residues, dead fish, and cigarette butts), as well as textiles. , cement materials, and leather, and such beaches are among the polluted ones. 5. The study recommends prohibiting practicing fishing in the study area with the aim to protect the public from diseases, distributing containers designated for recycling waste along the study area borderline, with special focus on the Central Fish Market area, as it contains the largest amount of waste. In addition, the study recommends the necessity to subject the study area to periodic monitoring and the constant surveillance of its water quality.
