Dr Samia Al-Amoudi Campaigns against Breast Cancer in UK

 

Dr Samia Al-Amoudi, CEO of Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer, paid a visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of Ms Ahlam Al-Zahrani, Chief Female Students’ Coordinator for the Saudi Students’ Clubs and Schools in the UK and Ireland, a student organization representing Saudi students studying in the UK and Ireland.

During the visit, Dr Al-Amoudi met with Dr Elham Danish, Head of the Women's Section at the Saudi embassy in London, with whom she discussed issues relating to doubling efforts to shed light on the practical achievements of the Saudi women.

She also met with the Saudi cultural attaché in London, Dr Ghazi Makki, who gave credit to KAU's invaluable contributions to the betterment of the Saudi society. At the end of the meeting, Dr Al-Amoudi presented Dr Makki with a souvenir carrying the logos of King Abdulaziz University and Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer.

She also gave a lecture on the importance of husbands' support to breast cancer patients to fight the disease, and another on women's health rights in Saudi Arabia.

She also shared her own experience of conquering the deadly disease with Saudi students studying in the UK and Ireland under scholarship schemes, expressing her Center's interest in sponsoring research in the area of early breast cancer screening in line with the university's long-term strategy of promoting scientific research.

She also received a telephone call from Princess Fadwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah, wife of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf, Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Princess Fadwa lauded the efforts made by Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer towards breast cancer advocacy and expressed her own commitment and support to the cause.
