Professor Talal A. Zari

 Professor

Profile

Prof. Talal A. Zari is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Faculty of Science, King Abdul Aziz University (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Botany-Zoology in 1974 from King Saud University (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). He worked as a biology teacher at the Secondary Faisal School in Riyadh for two years. In 1976, he became a demonstrator in the Department of Biological Sciences at King Abdul Aziz University. Prof. Zari completed his Master of Arts degree in Biolological Sciences 1981 at the University of Northern Colorado, USA. Returning to the Department of Biological Sciences, King Abdul Aziz University in 1982, he served as a lecturer until 1984. At this time, the university awarded him another grant so that he could pursue his Philosophy Doctorate. He graduated from the University of Nottingham, England in 1987, obtained his Ph.D. degree in Energetics and Thermal Physiology. Then he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at King Abdul Aziz University until 1993, when he was promoted to associate professor. He became a professor in 1998. His research interest has been thermal biology and energetics, also studies on diets, medicinal plants, pollution, diabetes, physiology, ecology and behaviour. He has received several medals, certificates and letters of recognition from Saudi Arabia and other countries and his biographical details can be found in the publications of Marquis, International Biographical Centre, American Biographical Institute, etc. Prof. Zari is the author of many articles in international scientific journals such as the Journal of Thermal Biology, Journal of Arid Environments and Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology. In addition, he wrote many essays in local newspapers and magazines in different subjects. He is the author of the book "Food and Health" (in Arabic).
