New KAU Media Centre to be Launched

A new media centre is to be launched at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) pursuant to a recent executive order made by KAU President, HE Prof Osama S. Tayyeb.

Functions of the new centre include maintaining a public image of the University, managing communication with its publics, formulating press releases, statistics and news, as well as supporting the University’s academic and research mission by disseminating the work of its researchers via various media outlets.

The Centre, which will consist of an institutional communication department, a media production department and a website department, will be run by Dr Sharea M. Al-Bogami, of the Department of Media, Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Dr Al-Bogami graduated from King Abdulaziz University in 1991 with a Bachelor in media and public relations.

In 2011, he got a Master's in media and communication from Cardiff University, UK, for a thesis titled "Media Campaigns".

He earned his PhD in media and public relations from the same university in 2004.

He also occupied a number of posts, including Head of the Department of Media at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Head of the Communication Skills Unit and Deputy Supervisor General of Public Relations and Media.

He also has a number of publications on media, and is a member of various local and international media societies
