HE Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, has chaired on behalf of HE Dr Khalid Mohammed Al-Angari, Minister of Higher Education, the third 1430/1431 KAU Board meeting held on Wednesday 13th January 2010, corresponding to 27th Muharram 1431 at the supreme administration premises.
The meeting was attended by:
• Dr Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Salih, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council.
• Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, Vice President for Educational Affairs.
• Prof Adnan Abdullah Al-Mazrooa, Vice President.
• Prof Adnan H. Zahid, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
• Prof Abdullah O. Bafil, Vice President for Projects.
• Prof Zohair A. Damanhouri, Vice President for Development.
• Dr Ahmed H. Nagadi, Vice President for Businesses and Knowledge Creativity.
• Deans of deanships and faculties.
After considering the meeting's agenda, the following resolutions were made:
1. Approving the inception of a scientific chair for youth research and promotion of virtue and prevention of vice issues, to be sponsored by HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince.
2. Approving the inception of a scientific chair for human resources studies, to be sponsored by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).
3. Approving the inception of a scientific chair for non-destructive testing studies, to be sponsored by Saudi Aramco.
4. Putting forward a recommendation regarding the establishment of a KAU center for geological hazards.
5. Accepting a SR one million donation made by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mihaisin in support of the university's various activities.
6. Changing the name of the 'Saudi Society for Plastic Surgery' to the 'Saudi Society for Plastic Surgery and Burns'.
7. Renewing the external audit contract for the year 1430/1431.
8. Dispatching Dr Ridwan M. Al-Ghasimi, of the Faculty of Engineering, on a one-year academic posting.
9. Reappointing Dr Hassan S. Abdul-Jabbar, of the Faculty of Medicine, as member of the Scientific Council for a period of one year.
10. Appointing Dr Jihad M. Tahseen, of the Faculty of Environmental Designs, as member of the Scientific Council for a period of one year.
11. Appointing three teaching members of staff of the Faculty of Dentistry as members of the Faculty's Board for a period of one year.
