HE KAU President launches the second volunteering contest between faculties coinciding with the Volunteer International Day

 
 

 HE KAU President Prof. Abdulrahman Al Youbi launched on December 5th, 2016 the second volunteering contest under the title ‘My Major at the Service of My Country’. The contest, which will run for two months, is organized by the volunteer work dept. at the deanship of student affairs and was launched on International Volunteer Day. The launching ceremony was attended by HE KAU Vice President for Educational Affairs Prof. Abdullah Al Ziyabi.

The Dean of Students Affairs Prof. Abdulmonim Al Hayani indicated that the contest aims at channeling students’ knowledge from their respective academic majors into volunteer work that serves the community, contributes to the proliferation of the volunteer work culture, prompts the exploration of talent and its development, as well as contributes to the building of a cooperative society that is conscious of the individual’s responsibility towards the other. All of the mentioned objectives are in concurrence with KAU’s vision for community service and would contribute to its fulfillment. Prof. Al Hayani also pointed out that the contest criteria have been set, which are mainly creativity and innovation of ideas, the need base of the project, and its relation to the each faculty’s fields of specialization. 

Vice Dean for Cultural and Social Activities Dr. Masod Al Qahtani indicated that the contest comes as part of the annual programs organized by the deanship. He added that the contest is one of a kind and aims at encouraging participation in volunteer work through major creativity, innovation, and specialization. The first round of the contest witnessed remarkable interaction on the part of faculties, whereby quality project submissions where actually implemented on ground.
