Renowned scientist visits KAU

Vice President for Educational Affairs, Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, received at his office on Sunday 13th April, Professor Mostafa A. El-Sayed, of Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.
The visit is part of a programme aimed at attracting international globally acclaimed and prolific academicians and researchers to the university in the drive to make it a world class hub for research and learning.
The meeting was attended by Dr Abdullah M. Aseeri, Head of the Department of Chemistry, Dr Hadi M. Marwani, of the Department of Chemistry, and Dr Mansour Almazroui, representative of the Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
Professor El-Sayed is an Egyptian-American chemical physicist, a leading nanoscience researcher, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a US National Medal of Science laureate. He is also known for the spectroscopy rule named after him, the El-Sayed rule.
The visit, according to Professor Alyoubi, was in tune with KAU's policy of seeking to provide a high-quality education and taking advantage of the capacity and expertise of local and foreign universities and scientists.
