KAU is gearing up for GCC conference on academic advising

 
 

King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is hosting a conference titled "Academic Advising in Higher Education of the Gulf Cooperation Council States: Reality and Hope” scheduled for 20- 21 November 2015.

All educational institutions in the Arab region and the Arabian Gulf aim for their educational outcomes to be in line with the international systems of quality assurance, according to Dr Amin Numan, head of the conference's organising committee.

Dr Numan further added that "they [educational institutions] seek for their graduates to be at the same level of their peers in advanced countries.

He also added that "the conference aims to activate the participation of universities in developing the role of academic advising and accordingly improve the quality of education".

He also called for submission of academic papers that investigate and discuss the role of academic advising in motivating higher education male and female students toward excellence and academic success, current challenges that face personnel working in the academic advising fields, and the ways of innovation and improvement of academic advising throughout its phases: before, during and after university studies.

Themes of the conference are academic advising, its importance, philosophy and strategies, integration of academic advising in public and higher education, academic advising and the labor market, challenges facing academic advising, modern technology and academic advising and the role of educational institutions in assuring quality of academic advising.

General conditions of participation stipulate that all contributions should not contradict Islamic principles and values, content of contributions should not contradict the conference objectives, the presented topic should be included within the themes of the conference and its activities, submitted papers must not have been published or accepted for publication in any academic journal or earlier conference inside or outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and submitted papers will be examined by professionals through a specialised programme to check for possible plagiarism. Any breach of academic integrity or violation of conditions will also result in disregarding the submitted paper.
