Al-Youbi Inaugurates New Registration Portal

On July 6, 2015, KAU Acting President Prof. Abdul-Rahman Al-Youbi inaugurated the new registration portal dubbed “Azziz.”  This portal enables students to review all their records and registration status online.

Prof. Al-Youbi visited the Registration Information Call Center in building 471, which houses all admission committees, in order to personally monitor the admissions and registration process, as well as the services offered by the university to new student applicants.   On this occasion, Dean of Admissions & Registration Dr. Amin Yousuf Numan gave a detailed presentation about the Center’s admissions and registration mechanisms.  On hand were the vice deans and several unit directors.

Prof. Al-Youbi announced that 164,000 male and female students were given the opportunity to apply for admission in KAU’s various programs on June 2, 2015.  Then on June 29, the results of the first admission stage were announced, as 25,150 applicants were nominated for admission.  Thereafter, as there were still some vacancies, the second admission stage was announced on July 6 – with the result that 3,220 male and female students who had previously been admitted as external and distance learning students were nominated for admission as regular students.  All in all, 15,450 males and females were granted admission as regular students; and 10,500 as external students.  The lowest weighted score percentage accepted was 79.46% for male students; and 80.41% for female students.  In Rabigh, on the other hand, the lowest weighted score percentage accepted was 65.04% for males; and 65.14 % for females.  As for external male and female students, Al-Youbi said, “Their acceptance will be based on their General Secondary School Certificate scores; and results will be announced on July 12.”

“The Registration Information Call Center has already responded to 18,600 queries from students.   In addition, the Deanship of Admissions & Registration has initiated a new service which utilizes Skype to respond visually to any requests for information Sunday through Thursday.  During Ramadan, there will be two shifts:  in the morning from 1:00 – 3:00 PM; and in the evening from 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM,” Al-Youbi stated.

Asserting that the admissions and registration process is proceeding smoothly and efficiently in accordance with the plans and mechanisms set forth, Prof. Al-Youbi pointed out that KAU has consecrated all its potentials and human resources in order to bring about the successful conclusion of the process – with the ultimate aim of facilitating admissions and registration procedures for students and their parent, so that they would not have to travel to the university to get the desired information.  As he put it, this could not have been made possible without utilizing state-of-the-art e-administration technologies.  “Not only does MyKAU portal allow students to apply for admission and register for courses, but it also enables them to obtain their KAU e-Identity cards and course schedules – all online,” Al-Youbi concluded.
