The foundation stone of a new molecular imaging company owned by Wadi Jeddah, a KAU-owned company, was laid by KAU President, Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, on Sunday January 27th.
The event was attended by Sheikh Saleh Kamil, Chairman of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KAU vice presidents, General Electric (GE) representative, representatives of the Ministry of Health, and a number of businessmen.
The new company is established in partnership with GE, an advanced technology, services and capital company dedicated to innovation in the areas of energy, health, transportation and infrastructure.
Prof Tayyeb, hailed the achievement, saying that he was proud of KAU's role in launching new projects and conducting research in various disciplines.
According to Dr Mohammed N. Khayyat, CEO of Wadi Jeddah, the new company will address the region's need for pharmaceutical isotopes in compliance with international standards on radiation safety and security.
