Procedures of Workshop Attendance

Definition

 

Seminars and any other equivalent kinds of workshops and short courses (termed for two to thirty days) held for the University's faculty members mainly provide an opportunity of enrichment of related knowledge.

 

First: Terms and Conditions of Nomination

 

  1. A connection shall exist between the main topic of the given seminar and the faculty member's area of interest.
  2. The participation shall fulfill the given terms and conditions and be applied within three months in prior to the date specified for the given seminar.
  3. The given faculty shall abide by the opportunities specified for it.
  4. An applicant shall have completed two years at least starting from the date of the requested participation and his recent participation in a sabbatical, association, delegation or any other form of participation in any seminar or any other equivalent kind of workshops or short courses.
  5. One nominee shall only be specified for any of the given departments to attend a seminar or any other equivalent kind. This nominee undertakes to abide by the academic loads assigned to him during the given term of participation.
  6. A nominated faculty member undertakes to fulfill the requirements of reporting for his recent participation.
  7. A nominee shall not be subject to any discipline liabilities, or a decision of discipline or plagiarism has been taken against him within the two recent years at least.
  8. Nominees mainly assigned by the Chancellery to participate in any of the given seminars shall be excluded from all the above-said items except for Items (6 and 7).

 

Second: Procedures of Nomination

 

A participation of any of the faculty members shall be approved according to:

 

  1. A recommendation of both the concerned department's board and the Triplet Committee as per the available opportunities and approved instructions.
  2. Consent of the Academic Council and approval of Chancellor.

 

Third: Documents Requested:

 

  1. The Triplet Committee Form to be filled in.
  2. The Participation Request Form to be filled in.
  3. Official documents pertaining the given participation to be obtained from the organizing bodies explaining charges, term, and content.
  4. A copy of the Academic Council's resolution pertaining the recent participation of the given nominee in any.
  5. A copy of the given nominee's academic profile.

 

Fourth: Financial Provisions:

 

The University provides, as having approved the given participation:

 

  1. A travel ticket.
  2. Study charges if any as maximally amounted to SR five thousand.

 

Fifth: General Provisions:

 

1.      A consent of the Vice-chancellor of Postgraduate Studies and Academic Research, mainly chairman of the Academic Council, shall be obtained for those willing to participate in any of the given seminars or any other equivalent kind of workshops and courses on the said participator's own expense whether at home or abroad or upon an invitation from the organizing body with no any financial liabilities on the University's part.

2.      A given participator, having returned home, is required to present a detailed report to the concerned department's board within one month to be thereafter submitted to the Academic Council. A copy of the training portfolio the given participator has obtained shall be enclosed if any.

3.      The concerned faculty shall prepare an annual plan through which the programs desired for participation is to be explained. This plan shall be accordingly implemented as per the opportunities mainly approved for this faculty.

4.      These above-stated rules shall be applied to the deans of faculties willing to attend any of the given conferences and sessions or to participate in any of the annual/regular visits and meetings.

5.      These above-stated rules have been based upon Articles (67 and 68) and as per the provisions of Article (103) of the Regulation of Affairs of Saudi Faculty Members.

6.      The Academic Council may lastly interpret these rules as deemed properly.
